“We are ecstatic to finally be able to share the names of this year’s unbelievable talent who make up our 30 Rising Stars! For our part, of all the competition judging we do every year, picking just 30 honorees from 200 unbelievable submissions is always the most difficult.” Some elements that nominators and judges look for in submissions are real emotions from subjects, uniquely interesting compositions and perspectives, and a fearless sense of experimentation in their work.
“I look for images that take my breath away, have what I call a ‘gut-punch’ impact, and are fresh and timeless,” says Jacqueline Tobin, editor-in-chief of Rangefinder. The panel of judges dedicated three weeks to viewing and discussing more than 6,000 images.
Rangefinder magazine, a publication focused on the photography industry, compiles an annual list called “30 Rising Stars.” The list features 30 up-and-coming photographers making a mark in the industry. They have shown exceptional talent and potential in their work.
The list includes photographers from various genres, such as wedding photography. The selection process involves nominations from industry experts and editors. Then, the nominees’ portfolios are reviewed, and the Rangefinder editorial team makes the final selection.
