To document your day, I like to work as unobtrusively as possible, one of the best comments I had was ‘we don’t remember seeing you!’ However, I am never far away and always ready when you need me. If you’d like to hear how my work is received please read some Kind Words from some happy couples & see my work in the press.
Once you’ve booked in, I’m available to you anytime to help answer any questions you may have. Please also let me know who your wedding planner is so I can connect with them directly, and send me a copy of your schedule when you have it.
I ensure that I arrive at least one day before the event, and occasionally even earlier. This allows me to explore the area, familiarize myself with the venue, and make the necessary preparations before the wedding day.
My photography coverage typically starts at the same time as the wedding preparations. And I keep going right till the end, this is usually around midnight!
For my photographic style, I often work alone. I don’t have a lighting team or photographic assistants, and I even carry all my own equipment.
However, I also work with some very talented photographers who can shoot with me. We can capture simultaneous moments at different locations or the same moment from two different perspectives.
Two photographers also mean a much larger selection of final images, as well as two distinct artistic/creative viewpoints on the day’s events. I can, and often do cover weddings on my own with great results, but if you have different events happening simultaneously which you’re eager to have photographed, a second photographer can be a great option.
Working as a documentary photographer, I capture naturally beautiful unstaged images. Landscape & detail photographs during the setting up, the build-up and getting ready, your ceremony, reception, and party into the night. Perhaps the only staged photos are the group shots, traditionally taken between the ceremony and the reception; the light is good, everyone is happy and relaxed. I also like to take creative images of the wedding party before the ceremony and with the two of you after your ceremony.
Canon mirrorless bodies; ‘L’ lenses, mainly prime (fixed); 24, 35, 50, 85, 135, but I also use a couple of zooms. In addition, I carry strobes (flash) but make use of natural light whenever possible.
Wedding days are usually very long and some food would be appreciated. Whilst I don’t need to be part of the wedding party during dinner I like to be nearby so I can keep an eye out and not miss any moments.
I’ve listed a few tips for making your wedding photographer’s life a bit easier right here in this journal post if you’d like to know more!
Check out this post from my journal, 5 Tips for Capturing the Best Moments of Your Big Day. It’s got some great advice from some really fantastic wedding photographers!
I capture artistic detail shots, and I understand the significance of group photos of families. I include both of these elements in my photography for every wedding that I photograph.
Every wedding is different and yours is unique. It’s difficult to give an exact number. I supply all the images from your day with an emphasis on quality over quantity. However, the typical minimum number of images would be 600-800. I always shoot in RAW and carefully edit and process the images over a number of days to supply you with high-quality ready-to-print jpegs.
The turnaround time for your pictures is 4-6 weeks from your event, but this is often quicker depending on my schedule. Your images are presented in a beautiful online gallery and you’re free to download them as you wish, both as full-size images and re-sized for posting to the web. You can also share the gallery with friends and family at the click of a button, and order prints directly from it!
‘RAW’ files are Digital Negatives, the equivalent of the negatives you used to receive with film. No processing is done in-camera and they need to be processed and exported using Abobe Lightroom and other programs. The RAW option gives you all the original untouched images, think of it as having the negatives as well as the prints. As more people are learning to edit, this is an increasingly popular option.
Once we have decided on the images, your wedding album takes around 3-4 weeks to design, print, and deliver. You can find more information on wedding albums right here.

Pre-Wedding Photoshoot
Second Shooter
While I do most of my wedding photography alone, sometimes I bring in a second professional photographer to assist. It is an excellent option for a large wedding with many locations. Or if you have concurrent events or a few events you’d like recorded from various angles.
Having a second shooter means more photos, different viewpoints on important moments, and a more diverse wedding photo collection.
