The Biltmore Mayfair, LXR Hotels & Resorts

The Biltmore Mayfair is a prestigious 5-star hotel situated at 44 Grosvenor Square in London’s Mayfair. Built as the Britannia Hotel from 1967 to 1969 by Grand Metropolitan Hotels.

Designed by architect Richard Seifert, it boasts a red-brick facade facing Grosvenor Square. It also has a more modern facade of concrete, brick, and glass that faces Adam’s Row. It underwent several name changes, including Britannia Inter-Continental London in 1981. Later it was Millennium Britannia Hotel after its acquisition by Millennium & Copthorne Hotels in 1996.

Following a renovation in 2000, it became the Millennium Hotel London Mayfair. The hotel gained attention in 2006 when the poisoning of Alexander Litvinenko occurred in its Pine Bar. Another round of renovations commenced in November 2017, costing an estimated £50 million. The hotel reopened on September 9, 2019, under its current name, The Biltmore Mayfair. It is now managed by Hilton as part of its LXR Hotels & Resorts luxury division.
